The Faculty of Engineering delivers a range of postgraduate courses via three Schools of Engineering; maximising on the expertise and industry connections in each field, ensuring that we meet the demands that industry sets as well as the criteria for delivering professional accredited courses.
- School of Civil Engineering and Construction
- School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering
- School of Aerospace and Aircraft Engineering
The Faculty is based at two campuses, with the School of Aerospace and Aircraft Engineering and the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering situated at the Roehampton Vale campus. The School of Civil Engineering and Construction is situated at the Penrhyn Road campus close to Kingston upon Thames town centre. Each site is served by university buses allowing students access to each campus at Kingston University.

Our postgraduate courses are accredited by the Engineering Council’s UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC), the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, JBM (Joint Board of Moderators) which includes the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Institution of Highways and Transportation, and the Institute of Highway Incorporated Engineers.
There are extensive laboratories on site at each Engineering campus offering: large-scale wind tunnels, industry standard engineering testing facilities, including metrology, fatigue and materials testing equipment, rapid prototyping and quality control machines, Learjet 25, Merlin Flight Simulator, fixed based aircraft maintenance simulator and many other facilities.

At the Penrhyn Road campus where the civil and construction laboratories are based, there are extensive materials and structures facilities for concrete, masonry, steel and timber, as well as geotechnics and hydraulics testing equipment including surveying equipment.
Each site offers the necessary CAD/CAM packages including: Ideas, ANSYS, SolidWorks and AutoCad, finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics and virtual instrumentation.
The University has made significant investment in development of the campuses to create a modern, vibrant environment for its students and enhancing their experience of student life.
In 2008, the Roehampton Vale campus saw the opening of the Hawker wing; providing light airy modern teaching rooms. Recent developments at the campus include a new Learning Resource with extensive range of engineering publications, as well as a stylish café and social space area.
