Glyndwr University
Engineering

There are a number of different programmes in Engineering, covering performance car and motorsport technologies, electrical and electronic engineering including sound broadcast engineering, aeronautical engineering and avionics, and specialised manufacturing and engineering logistics. Glyndŵr University has dedicated engineering laboratories to support these programmes and Engineering has close ties with Airbus UK and strong links with other industries including Toyota, Jaguar and Siemens. A new part time foundation degree in Automation, Instrumentation and Control has been added to the portfolio with the support of United Utilities aimed at employees of utility and process based industries.
All of the Engineering programmes feature practical work to back up theoretical content using the wide range of facilities available on campus. These include engineering workshops with rapid prototyping facilities, hangar based piston and jet aircraft, computer flight simulators, performance cars in a comprehensively fitted automotive workshop, electronics and control laboratories, a smoke tunnel, subsonic and supersonic wind tunnel testing, and computer laboratories running the latest industry standard software.
Engineering have installed of a new full-motion flight simulator and have recently upgraded their wind tunnels to feature real time data capture of experimental measurements.
