Strategic Project Management - MSc

(Full-time or part-time)

MSc Strategic Project Management is an ideal postgraduate course for Project Management graduates. The course is also available to those who are interested in 'strategy' content and have other suitable formal project management skills and experience, such as the Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management.

The course is aimed at a diverse range of people who wish to develop and consolidate their expertise in strategy implementation through project management. It aims to critically evaluate the strategy and organisational context of projects and to instil the motivation and commitment needed to develop and implement strategy through projects and programmes of projects in a professional and erudite manner.

To achieve these outcomes students will study: Strategy, Economics & Finance; Project Futures; People in Projects; Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and in addition typical techniques in the management of projects will be developed to a high professional as a foundation (in Project Management Skills 1 & 2) from which to then examine other issues in the profession.

Throughout the programme a practical research emphasis, associated with postgraduate study, will see students examine real life case studies from their own or other practice, allowing students to address existing work issues, should they wish, and this will inform coursework assignments and build to a Masters Thesis. Ongoing action research from the course team will be included in the course content.

Attendance on the course involves weekend lectures and tutorials. Assessment is predominantly based on coursework.

Entry requirements:

You should normally have a UK honours degree in a relevant discipline, an equivalent professional qualification, or another appropriate qualification, together with appropriate professional experience or a suitable record of achievement.
