Facilities Management - MSc
(Distance learning)
Facilities management is concerned with providing an organisation with a broad range of support services of the required quality and at an appropriate cost in support of core business activity. Facilities managers must be able to exercise skills in effective service provision and monitoring, as well as demonstrate an understanding of business strategy, cost control, people management and property-related issues.
This course aims to be intellectually challenging, to enhance your abilities in the identification and evaluation of appropriate decision-making strategies and to develop research capability and cognitive skills which enable you to analyse and resolve problems in your professional context.
Student feedback frequently relates to benefits achieved through intellectual stimulation. Students are exposed to a wide range of information to enhance their abilities in deciphering relevant material and enhancing their overall knowledge.
The course requires students to collaborate with one another in joint assignments involving students located throughout the world. Again the feedback from this form of interaction is positive, acknowledging the relevance to working within multinational organisations where differences in cultures as well as time considerations must be taken into account.
The course also maintains focus on the fact that facilities management must be responsive to industry requirements. A measure of success in achieving this balance can be taken from students who have found much of the course tuition and material transferable into and of benefit in their workplace.
This course is accredited by the British Institute of Facilities Management, The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and The International Facility Management Association.
