Introduction
The growth of the internet as an IT environment for commercial transaction and information exchange has placed additional burdens on IT teams in organisations, requiring that network technicians and managers be aware both of the infrastructure of networks and the enabling technologies.
The course is designed to equip computing graduates and practitioners with the advanced management and technical skills to analyse, model, design and evaluate network-based systems, to an advanced, professional standard, underpinned by rigorous approaches and methods to network management and systems development.
You will be supported by the best available facilities with state of the art equipment and industry standard software provided in a dedicated postgraduate study suite. This specialist facility allows you to share your learning experience with like-minded staff and students in a friendly environment.
Course structure
The course includes the following topics:

How will I learn?
You will be taught through structured lectures, tutorials, seminars and practical laboratory-based sessions. For practical sessions, you will work in our dedicated work station laboratory, which is equipped with the latest development tools and software or the network lab for investigating and interrogating network components.
The student centred delivery allows you to take greater control of your learning through on-line learning material and exercises, the Internet and by interactive demonstrations.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a mixture of tests, research, practical work and major dissertation. The Integrative Project is a group assessment and is usually conducted with the cooperation of a local employer.
