Entry requirements

Entry requirements for this course are usually the following: Honours degree (or equivalent experience) in:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Engineering Systems or a closely related science subject area.

Introduction

This course is designed to provide graduate engineers with the engineering management knowledge and skills to allow you to pursue careers in management positions within engineering and other industrial and commercial sectors. You will work in one of the most advanced precision engineering laboratories in the UK, with a range of ultra-precision surface measurement, co-ordinate measurement and machining equipment. A range of mechanical and automotive test and analysis equipment is also provided to enable plant condition, fatigue, modal and thermal analysis to take place. The course includes a substantial project that allows you to develop your own particular interests within the broad area of engineering and engineering management.

Teaching and Assessment

You will be taught through lectures, tutorials, studio based assignment work and lab based research activities, making use of industry standard software and mechanical engineering facilities. These are available to students who wish to pursue one or more of these technical areas within their project work. Assessment reflects the emphasis of the course on the ability to apply knowledge and skills, and is diversely linked to examination, assignment, project work and research/lab activities.
