Safety and Accident Investigation - Rail
Start: January
Duration: 3 years part-time.
Entry Requirements:
1st or 2nd class UK Honours degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline and/or relevant experience within the rail industry, safety or related discipline. IELTS score of 6.5 minimum.
Course Description:
- In parallel with our existing Air Transport MSc, Cranfield University is proud to offer an MSc programme designed for rail accident investigators.
- Modelled on our annual accident investigation short courses, which have run since 1977, the MSc programme starts with two intensive three-week modules in Fundamentals of
- Investigation and Applied Rail Accident Investigation.
- These modules involve over 70 presenters from all aspects of accident investigation and feature a range of activities such as investigative interviewing, legal skills, visits which may include
- London Underground and Network Rail facilities, and several hands-on investigation exercises.
- Finally, students are expected to complete a supervised individual research project on a subject of their choice within the rail accident investigation field.
Modules:
Upon completion of the three-week modules, students can then specialise in particular areas of investigation by choosing four modules from the selection listed below.
