Course Description:

The need for organisations to co-ordinate and manage their assets is greater than ever, particularly in the area of clinical research. Growing competition, changing customer requirements and rapid economic changes mean that organisational knowledge and operations management is becoming increasingly important in business.

Our unique Clinical Research Management MSc has been designed to equip students who have an interest in the health sector with the knowledge, skills and experience to maximise their potential in future roles. The course brings together expertise from different industries which can be applied to the health sector.

Our Clinical Research Management MSc is part of the Clinical Research Programme and is divided into three parts:

  • a formal taught component comprising eight modules
  • a group project
  • an individual research project

Modules:

  • Translation of New Medicinal Products into the Clinic
  • Research Design and Methodology
  • Statistical Analysis and Interpretation
  • Clinical Trial Practice
  • Organisational Knowledge Management
  • Enterprise Modelling
  • Business Management and Health Economics
  • Business Principles

Group project

The group project follows the taught modules. Students work in small teams on a project requiring the use of all the knowledge and skills gained from the taught modules.

Research project

A critical part of the course is the three-four month individual research project, enabling students to apply, in a real-world setting, the theory, processes, methods, skills and tools gained on the taught programme.
