Course Duration: 12 Months
Course Start Date: 13 September 2011
Course Mode: Full Time
Subject Area: Computing, Creative and Design
Entry Requirements
Entry requirements are either an Honours degree or advanced qualification in Computer Science or cognate discipline from a British university or recognised overseas institution, or industrial experience in Computer Networking and an Honours degree.
Programme Description
Voice over IP & UC is concerned with the advanced knowledge and skills required to integrate IP telephony/unified communication solutions into underlying network architectures and includes an examination of the methods, techniques, tools and technologies used to develop such infrastructures.
The programme will produce graduates with the theoretical and practical skills necessary in the design, implementation and administration of a converged network infrastructure incorporating a Voice over IP and Unified Communication (VoIP&UC) solution. At the end of the course students will be able to design, build, implement and administer a converged network incorporating VoIP&UC solution that is transparent, scalable and manageable. The module content concentrates on routing concepts, switching concepts, call processing in circuit switched and IP environments, unified communication, network Quality of Service (QoS), gateways / gatekeepers, IP phones and voice / video applications.
Embedded in the programme is material aligned to the Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP) qualification and Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) qualification.
