This course will provide candidates who have some experience of software development technologies with the opportunity to develop their careers by enhancing their skills in .NET development. This academic course also provides preparation for Microsoft professional certification in .NET technologies.

Programme Description
The philosophy of this programme is to offer a solid grounding in advanced practice in the development of web systems using .NET technology, providing preparation for the relevant Microsoft professional certifications which are widely valued in the software industry alongside academic qualifications.
The programme is appropriate for individuals who are currently working with .NET development tools and technologies and who wish to enhance and demonstrate their skills in these. It is also appropriate for individuals who have skills in other software development technologies and who wish to acquire skills and knowledge of .NET with a view to broadening their employment or advancement prospects.
On this programme you will learn a set of skills in the fundamentals of .NET application development along with the specialised knowledge required to build enterprise applications using ASP.NET web development, ADO.NET database integration and WCF communication technologies.
You can achieve a Postgraduate Certificate award after one academic year of study, with a further year of study leading to a Postgraduate Diploma.
The first year includes content related to Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist exams, while the additional year includes content related to the Microsoft Certified Professional Developer certification.

Further Study
Students who complete a Postgraduate Diploma may have the opportunity to undertake a dissertation in order to complete an MSc.
