Course content
This course offers you the opportunity to explore the latest concepts, methods and tools for software engineering. You will investigate state-of-the-art techniques relating to software quality, design and development which will enable you to produce robust and complex systems. This hands-on course has been developed in conjunction with our industry contacts in order to equip you with relevant and marketable skills.
Core modules
- Advanced software engineering
Investigates the knowledge and skills you will require to develop quality software systems including contemporary methodologies and techniques for version control, testing and documentation. - Web software engineering
Investigates current web architectures and development platforms that support the production of enterprise-level solutions. Through practical work, you will have opportunity to engineer scalable systems, using industry standard techniques and tools. - Mobile application development
Investigates the architectures, platforms and techniques available to build applications for mobile devices. Focusing on one platform and suite of technologies will give you the opportunity to apply your skills to an advanced level. - Software components & architectures
Develops your skills in Components Based Software Engineering (CBSE), in particular modelling techniques, analysing system complexity, and applying best practice design principles. - Service-oriented architecture (SOA)
SOA is a software development paradigm specifically developed for emerging markets in cloud computing and web services. This involves analysing, designing, and managing solutions for SOA.

Entry requirements
Applicants should have an honours degree in computing, communication systems or similar, or significant work experience (typically a minimum of three years) with skills and knowledge, comparable to those gained from an honours degree.
