Course overview:
The significant growth in passenger traffic predicted over the foreseeable future is creating demand among employers for highly skilled and qualified graduates to develop solutions that will help deliver safe, environmentally sustainable, financially viable and operationally efficient airport facilities.
Building on over 40 years of air transport postgraduate education, Cranfield University's unique Part-Time Executive MSc in Airport Planning and Management will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to build a successful career in this exciting and expanding industry. You will be able to enjoy the flexibility of undertaking a part-time degree enabling you to combine work with study.
Structure:
The course consists of two elements: seven modules and one research thesis. Students must complete the course over a maximum registration period of five years.
Modules :
Students are required to complete the following modules:
- Air Transport Fundamentals
- Airport Business Management
- Airport Design
- Airport Operations
- Airport Strategic Planning and the Environment
- Economics and Financial Management
- Quantitative and Research Methods
- Safety Management.
Students must start the course by first completing the Air Transport Fundamentals Module which is offered every autumn.
The remaining modules can be taken in any order. Lectures are given by both internal and external speakers, the latter selected for their extensive direct knowledge and experience of the industry.
Research Thesis:
The thesis is an opportunity to study a problem in detail, and sponsoring organisations or the student's company may cooperate in the choice of a suitable subject.
Assessment:
Modules are assessed by a mixture of coursework and examinations.
Entry requirements:
1st or Upper 2nd class UK honours degree or its equivalent relevant experience or an HND and at least seven years managerial experience in air transport.
English Language Requirements - Our normal minimum requirement is a TOEFL score of 580 (paper test) or 237 (computer test), essay rating 4.5 or 92 (Internet test), all skills 19 or an IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 for writing, a TOEIC overall score of 830, or a Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English grade C or Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English grade C, although a number of our programmes require higher scores.
