Military Operational Research

Start: September

Duration: 1 year FT, up to 5 years PT

Entry Requirements:

Normally a 1st or 2nd class honours degree (or equivalent) in science, engineering or mathematics. Alternatively, a lesser qualification together with appropriate work experience may be acceptable. Our normal minimum requirement is a TOEFL score of 580 (paper test) or 237 (computer test), essay rating 4.5 or 92 (Internet test), all skills 19 or an IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 for writing, a TOEIC overall score of 830, or a Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English grade C or Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English grade C, although a number of our programmes require higher scores.

Course Description:

Operational research is used extensively in both industry and commerce and plays an important role in the military environment.

The increasing complexity and expense of new technology and the ever present pressures on available resources lead to increasing difficulty in military decision making. The Military Operational Research course provides opportunities for the modelling of specific systems and practical experience with relevant computer software.

Our MSc is suitable for those seeking a broader understanding of the principles of operational research and the methods and techniques applicable to industrial and military systems which lead to better decision-making.

Funding:

Funding available for MoD sponsored students.
